Sipping sake at urban canyon

Sake shopKiku-Masamune, Japan’s famous sake brewery with 350 years of history, is opening a sake museum with the theme “kura” (sake storehouse) from Sep.10th to Oct.9th in Hibiya. Sake is a fermented alcoholic beverage made from rice, containing 14 to 16 percent alcohol.

In addition to an exhibit on the history of the sake brewing, the museum will also have a sake tasting bar. Sake tastingThe 300 yen tasting course includes three different types of sake with dried squid snacks, quite a good deal. You can also choose Ume-reishu (150yen), a liqueur made from unripe Japanese plums in crystalized sugar and shochu (a distilled alcoholic beverage made from sweet potatoes) mixed with sake. It goes down easy with a fruity flavor like dessert wine.  A bottle of sake or their original indigo apron would also make a great souvenir.

Time: 11:00-21:00 (11:00-18:00 on Sun & national holidays)
-Tasting bar opens 17:00-20:30 only
