One winter afternoon…

It’s Sunday afternoon when we head over Omotesando, a fashionable and trendsetting area lined with high-end brand shops. Here’s attracting Tokyoite’s attention for its fantastic Christmas illumination came back after 11 years intervals. There’s time before the illumination starts.

A.R.IOur first stop is A.R.I, a tiny café located just in front of futuristic AO building. This café’s specialties are freshly-baked muffins which the owners learned in N.Y. and arranged with a generous amount of rich filling and its combination. I try the sweet potato with black sesame (441yen), a seasonal and hearty muffin. With seating for about 10, it’s like sitting in a cozy corner of her kitchen.

Skating TheaterWe stop at Omotesando Hills to try Skating Theater, a unique ice skating rink using synthetic ice made from petrochemical panel, can enjoy with spectacular projection, lightning and sound. Why don’t they use real ice? It’s eco-friendly rink with saving electric power and water, of course not cold. We get same feeling as when we skate on ice but more fantastic experience.

Omotesando IlluminationWhen stepping outside of Omotesando Hills, the sky is getting dark and Omotesando regains its sparkle.
